In the Orient, there is a great ritual surrounding the serving of tea. It has less to do with the drinking of tea and more to do with experiencing the company of others, sharing thoughts, reviewing art, contemplating poetry and mulling over one's philosophies. The basket at left is one of many ornate containers, merely for the decorative housing of tea, yet more for the ceremony surrounding the ritual. Certainly there is partaking of that sort of tea here on occasion, but the more prominent activity here is rather a narrow one and comparable, perhaps, to the review of art. 
You see the small box there, approximately a two-foot cube. It has long been used as a reviewing stand for property of a particular sort. How many have stood precariously upon the Box and awaited inspection? When asked to present onself, there is barely enough room on the surface of the Box to set one's feet apart, even on the diagonal. When asked to bend forward and grab one's ankles, it is quite difficult to maintain one's balance. There is always concern that the Mistress may make her investigations harshly and topple the Box and the property too. Of course, this would be disasterous during a review and the property should expect prompt correction for such a fumble.
